Queen of the Forsaken

In the land of Meraki, mages from all around battle for the crown in a contest called The Wagering. What’s the wager? Magic. Dueling each other, they wager their powers in hopes of the chance to rule. Soon, Meraki is thrust into chaos as the kind King gets defeated, and a wicked one takes his place.
Davina is the only child of King Aramis. Her father is considered one of the greatest mages in all history, but she can barely light a match. Davina may not have strong magic, but she is blessed by the gods with her own keeper on her hundredth birthday. Dealing with changes in her life, one being followed around by a grumpy keeper hell-bent on being always arm’s length from her, she begs her father to allow her to watch this year’s Wagering. Unable to deny his daughter, and confident that he will win, King Aramis relents and brings her along.
No one expected that this Wagering would be his last.
When her father gets defeated, her life turns upside down. A new King takes the crown and demands Davina’s hand in marriage. Ruling with violence and fear, King Bronte takes magic by force and kills any and all who refuse him. As the centuries go by, King Bronte grows angrier at Davina’s ability to hide from him. His rath is evident as he sends his armies to hunt for his forsaken princess, the longer she hides the more his rage darkens the lands around him. King Bronte’s armies raise villages, burn farms, and destroy all they can until she is found, until she is his.
Soon a secret is revealed that pushes Davina out of hiding, forces her to learn about her own abilities, and prepares her to enter the Wagering and attempt to dethrone the wicked king. However, as Davina and her Keeper travel through the land, they realize that the world has significantly changed. Hunted relentlessly by the wicked King’s Keeper, Davina and Zander must fight to stay alive and out of the hands of Bronte. Soon they find solace with a group of forsaken mages, as they hide in a deep chasm for sanctuary. Davina finds herself thrust into a role she never wanted; doesn’t even believe she can do… The forsaken mages take her in, and train her, as they believe she is the one they have been waiting for.
Can Davina win the Wagering, defeat the King, and claim the crown before it’s too late?
